This is part of a qualitative assignment about Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA).
The case study:
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a therapy based on both cognitive and behavioural principles. CBT is thought to be an effective treatment for a number of disorders. There are many different types of treatment options available to patients with research suggesting effective treatment programs can incorporate many components.
The aim of the present study was to examine participants’ experience of CBT treatment. Three participants took part in the interview. All three participants have been involved in CBT.

• Section A: Description and evaluation of the IPA
Provide a concise description of IPA including appropriate references. Make it clear to the reader why IPA was suitable for this study. Provide a background on whether IPA and/or other qualitative methods have previously been used in this research area. This section should include critical evaluation.
